Oilers always seem to give Trotzy fits even when they are very good.

Kinda bummed to be watching this one from home tonight. My wife refuses to go to any more games when the Blackhawks are in town. And she pretty much expects me to refrain from going too!

We had a really abusive guy last December sitting right behind us - mocking all the Preds fans around us because the Preds were losing to the Hawks' backup goaltender. Of course, he didn't want to hear about the fact that Carter Hutton & not Pekka was in net for the Preds...or the fact that his Hawks got beaten by Marek Mazanec a month earlier. All facts I pointed out to him. He just got louder & my wife begged me to leave. It was such a miserable experience.

I just hope me being at home is not the jinx that causes this point streak to end! Will be interesting to see is the Power Play gets any better. Perhaps it will just take time to build some chemistry, but I remain concerned because sometimes it seems like they can't even get set up once during the 2 minutes - much less generate a decent shot on net.

Any chance we see Clune in for Borque tonight?

Keep the red out haha. Arent they offering free tickets to Hawks fans who turn in their jerseys or whatever other Blackhawk merchandise? Wont that just encourage more Hawk fans to attend?

No, because the Preds organization sells those used older jerseys back to droves of insecure Blackhawks fans to make it seem like they've followed their team for longer than 4 years. Big money in it. Great for us smaller markets.

Stated from the Preds facebook page. All Hawks item turned in at Bridgestone will get a free ticket voucher and all the items will be donated to the Chicago Rescue Mission.

Like they have a merch stand outside of the stadium to sell used Blackhawks jerseys? Pretty genious if it actually works like that. Not really sure still how its supposed to keep Blackhawks fans from wanting to attend games in Nashville though.

If i could get into a game by trading in one of my old jerseys I'd do it. Just curious as to what the situation is. Also who cares how long a fan watches a team? If someone likes hockey but only has been watching for 4 years do they have to stop watching? Are the Hawks not allowed to get new fans?

Thats cool. I still dont see how it is supposed to deter Blackhawks fans from attending.

Like i said in my last post, if i could get into a game by turning in an old jersey then i would do it in a heartbeat

Absolutely, but new fans must wait a minimum of 5 years before behaving like a horse's a**. We need an NHL Fan Czar to arbitrate.

Haha oh ok. So next year Hawks fans will be allowed into the Preds arena with their jerseys on (ONE game at a time) and they can be crazy? Ill telephone the message to the back of the wagon and hope not too many of us fell off after the debacle of a conference championship last post season.

Unfortunately, all teams have their fair share of horses a** fans. holycow_75, sorry to you and your wife for getting stuck behind one. The Hawks do travel well though, and I know it sucks for the home fans, but I think that kind of loyalty should be encouraged. It has far reaching benefits to teams bottom lines, as well as attracting free agents. It also pumps revenue into the host city's coffers. You guys are welcome to come to United Center and cheer on the Preds anytime you'd like

As a Hakws fan (but fan of the game/league first), I'm sorry to hear about that experience you and your wife had with the obnoxious fan. To tell you the truth, that's a recurring theme up here these days. Ever since the Hawks became good, the fanbase has exploded. You wouldn't believe the ampunt of "experts" that have all-of-a-sudden taken over the 300 level seats. It's become a real yuppie/frat house at the UC.
There's a lot of teams in the league I like and follow, for one reason or another: player(s), history, style of play, etc. The Preds are one of those teams on my list. Pekka is one of my favorite goalies in the league and big Shea Weber is one of the best blue-liners to watch. He's a total throw back, in my opinion. I love his play. I liked what I saw in Gabriel Borque when he was playing for Milaukee and they would play the Wolves/Icehogs. I was also really happy when Carter Hutton got a picked up by the Preds, as I'm not a fan of how the Hawks handle their young talent in the minors. The Hawks is a roster that is almost impossible to crack, not only becuase of the talent they already have, but the coaching staff and front office are very rigid on rotating in the guys from Rockford. The stars have to alighn for them to call someone up, and when they do, he only gets a game here or there- no really chance to get into a groove. Most guys are sent back to Rockford to never be heard from again, or to be traded. The irony is, they're always talking about the talent level in the minors, yet it's so rare we get to see it. Carter was a guy I was really looking forward to, but he , like so many others, I feel never got much of a chance to show what he could do. I'm glad he's found a place in Nashville, backing one of the best in the game and he's shown he can play!
Anyways, sorry for the long-winded response. I just wanted you to know that there are Chicago fans that love/respect the game for the right reasons and believe in sportsmanship and the idea of discussing hockey in an educated and respectful manner....That being said, I'm looking forward to tonights game. It will be a battle and a fun one to watch. Talent on both ends of the ice.
Talkto you fellas, later.

I've had good experiences with fans of all stripes. In fact, one of my best buddies at work is a huge Blackhawks fan. So, I know there are good ones and bad ones in every group. It just seems like all of the terrible Blackhawks fans congregate at the Bridgestone a couple times a year.

I've traveled to Dallas, St. Louis & Minnesota with my Preds gear on - and was treated the best in Chicago. And I understand the economics of the situation too. It's good for everybody when fans travel - unless they act like idiots, curse at children, and show up to games on the verge of passing out drunk.

Best experience I've ever had locally with out of town fans was during the playoff series with the Canucks a few years ago. Sat next to this awesome family. The guy told me he funded his entire trip for them to get 4 plane tix Nashville, 3 nights hotel & go to 2 games at Bridgestone (4 people in Section 117) for giving up 4 3rd row seats to one game in Vancouver. Not only were they classy, but he bought my dad & I a beer, and talked hockey with us like old friends - and we turned him on to a few places to eat and visit. That's what it's all about.

Maybe the more often Chicago fans come down here - some of the worst of them will get weeded out. And it will be a more tolerable experience. Until then - I'm watching from home!

When I travel to other rinks, I always adhere to three rules.

1) No obnoxious cheering. That means stay in your seat and don't get in other fans' faces.
2) Respect the building and the organization that is hosting you.
3) Only engage in discussion with educated fans, and keep it to factual information and respectful tones. If there are no nearby educated fans, keep your mouth shut and enjoy the game.

We're currently on the front page of ESPN-NHL....It's like being on national TV against Detroit in the Trotz era - kiss of death for this team. I'm now predicting a shutout.

Amen brother. My wife and I traveled to UC during lockout season and had a blast. We were 2 of 8 Preds fans in there but it was awesome. We will be returning. Best of luck.

There is a mob like mentality when the Hawk fans invade the bridge. I often take children to the games but refuse to do so when the Hawks are in town because so many of the traveling mob are blasted before they walk in the doors. The Blues travel well too but you don't have near the problems with their fans.

Actually last night the Hawks fans we generally OK....must have come in late b/c they weren't drunk off their a$$es. I always laugh when the 300 pound female in yoga pants & Toews jersey flips the bird after we win.

Here's my take from my limited trips....
STL - drunk mouthy fans
MIN - Didn't say anything
EDM - "Do you know our history?" Gawd that city is awful.
CGY - best away barn & people by far.
